Shunra VE Shows MTC Customers How Their Distributed Applications Will Actually Perform Under Real World Network Conditions, During Proof of Concept Engagements

New York, NY, January 9, 2006 – Shunra, the leading provider of application and network performance assurance solutions, today announced that Microsoft Technology Centers (MTC) is expanding its alliance with Shunra, and has selected Shunra Virtual Enterprise (Shunra VE) for its U.S. and European centers. Used by the MTCs as an integral part of their ‘Proof of Concept’ engagements, Shunra VE now gives MTC enterprise customers the ability to test their distributed applications under production network conditions. This enables MTC customers to accurately determine how their applications will perform at their remote locations prior to deployment, as well as test scalability and migration issues.

“Shunra VE is an industry standard in network simulation, and is invaluable to us,” said Adam Hecktman, Microsoft technology team director, MTC - Chicago. “Customers bring their own applications or third party applications into the MTC without any idea as to how they will actually work under real-world conditions at remote branch office locations. Using Shunra VE they get to see exactly how their applications will perform in production from any remote location in the world, and expose network-related flaws well before rollout. After solving these problems, they sometimes are able to see a ten-fold performance improvement. Shunra VE provides real value add to the Microsoft Technology Centers and to our customers, and we are very pleased to team up with them.”

Shunra VE is a highly flexible solution that creates an accurate replica of any production network environment including the network, remote locations and network traffic. With Shunra VE, users can safely test the functionality, performance, scalability and robustness of applications and infrastructure under a near limitless variety of current and future real-world network conditions, and discover and resolve problems before deployment in the production environment.

Microsoft Technology Centers provide facilities and resources to enterprise customers primarily in the finance, retail, healthcare, manufacturing, public sector and government industries. These companies use the MTCs when they need to efficiently envision, architect, and demonstrate a secure, customized solution based on Microsoft and technologies from companies such as Dell, F5, EMC, HP, Unisys, and Shunra prior to deployment in their own IT environment.

In the U.S., Shunra VE is used at MTCs in Austin, Tx.; Boston, Mass.; Silicon Valley, Ca.; Chicago, Ill; and Reston, Va. In Europe, Shunra VE is installed at MTCs in Reading (UK), Copenhagen, and Paris. Additional installations are planned in Europe and Asia in 2006.

“We’re delighted that Microsoft has selected Shunra VE to be an integral part of their world-class technology centers. This enhanced collaboration also gives Shunra the ability to showcase our technology to MTC customers who rank among the world’s leading companies,” said Tom Vyrostek, Director of Strategic Alliances for Shunra. “With Shunra VE, MTC customers have the opportunity to see how their applications and infrastructure will perform in production early in the application lifecycle, and can find and fix problems while it’s easer and much less expensive. Through this process, MTC customers can deploy their applications with confidence, and ultimately ensure that they meet business and service level objectives.”
