Shlomo Dovrat

General Partner, Co-founder

  • Over 20 years of recognized leadership on the Israeli hi-tech, entrepreneurial and investment scene
  • Served as CEO and Chairman of several Israeli companies with a successful global track record
  • Co-founded Viola Group and Carmel Ventures in the year 2000
  • Served as Chairman of ECI Telecom (NASDAQ: ECIL)  and led ECI’s strategic turn around, from 2002 until it was acquired by a group of Private Equity investors for $1.2 billion in September 2007
  • Co-founded Oshap as CEO and President in 1982 at the age of 24 and led the company to its NASDAQ IPO, a mere three years later
  • Transformed Oshap into an active software investment company and served as chairman of MINT and Decalog N.V., successful financial software companies in the 1990s. In July 1999, SunGard acquired Oshap for $220 million.
  • Founded Tecnomatix where he was deeply involved in product development, market penetration and the establishment of a strong global sales and support organization; served as its CEO and President from its inception in 1983 until 1995
  • Led Tecnomatix’s IPO on NASDAQ (1993)
  • Served as Chairman of Tecnomatix until December 2001 and then as director until the Company was sold to UGS in 2005
  • Began his IT career in an elite technology unit of the Israeli Defense Forces

Boards:

Educational & Community Outreach:

  • Appointed by the Government of Israel as Chairman of the National Task Force for the Advancement of the Educational System (2003), whose objectives were to prepare a comprehensive plan for improving the educational system in Israel. The task force submitted its final report in 2005
  • Founding member of the Israel Venture Network, an initiative of leading figures in the US and Israeli high-tech community to promote diverse educational projects throughout Israel.
  • Member of the board of trustees at The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute

Recognition:

  • Granted the Israeli Hi-Tech Award (2005) for his contribution to the community as founder of the Israel Venture Network and as the chairman of the National Task Force for the Advancement of the Israeli Education System
  • Was named Honorary Fellow of the Interdisciplinary Center Herzeliya (2007), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Israeli education, the future of the State of Israel and the Jewish People
